Are Amazing Lashes safe?

Amazing Lash Studio only uses professional grade adhesive which never comes in contact with your skin. Synthetic eyelashes adhere about 1mm away from your skin.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 48 hours of wear. After that 48-hour period, the adhesive used to apply your eyelash extensions is secure enough to allow you to get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.

How soon can I wash my face after the extensions are applied?

The suggested time frame is 48 hours. For a guest with sensitivities, it is suggested to wash within the first 12 hours of application. Of course, it is always suggested to use our ALS Foaming Face Wash.

How do I dry my eyelash extensions?

After cleansing your eyelashes, brush your extensions with a clean mascara wand and use a lint-free cloth to gently apply pressure to the top of your extensions while keeping your eyes closed. An even gentler option after brushing is to dry your extensions using the ALS fan found in all of our Amazing Lash Studios. Using the fan to lightly blow air onto your extensions dries them in no time and helps to keep the shape! After fanning, don’t forget to brush again with a clean mascara wand.

How do I take care of my new eyelash extensions?

  • Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24-48 hours
  • Avoid hot steam or sauna
  • Use ALS Eye Makeup Cleansing and Protein Removal Pads to remove any eye makeup.
  • Use ALS Foaming Lash Wash or a mild antibacterial foaming cleanser to cleanse the lashes.
  • Do not perm eyelashes or manually curl.
  • Brush with a clean mascara wand daily.
  • TIP: Sometimes mornings are a mess! Try washing your lashes in the morning and gently brushing the top side of the extensions with a finger placed beneath. If too much tugging is noticed, a quick stop at your local studio may be necessary to help separate these extensions.

Is the product FDA approved? Is it safe?

Currently, the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free. Some clients consider the process relaxing and even sleep through the appointment.

How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?

The application process for lash extensions normally takes about 90-120 minutes for a full set of lashes and 45-60 minutes for a refill. You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed while relaxing ambient music is played in the background. During application, your lower lashes will be covered and the extensions will be applied only to your upper lashes one at a time.

How do I choose the look I want?

Your technician will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous!

Do I have to do anything to prepare for the service?

To remove any eye makeup, use our ALS Eye Makeup Cleansing and Protein Removal Pads. Use our ALS Foaming Lash Wash or an oil-free makeup remover to cleanse your lashes prior to the appointment as well to remove any leftover mascara. Right before the appointment you may be asked to cleanse your lashes with a mild cleanser to remove any leftover oils. Lashes should not be permed or manually curled at the time of appointment.

What happens if I choose to have my eyelash extensions removed?

We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. The gel remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away with lint free applicators exposing the natural lashes.

Will my natural lashes be damaged?

Not at Tranquility Lashes™. Lash strips, clusters, and "individuals" sold at drug stores and bargain establishments will damage your natural lashes since they inevitably tear out lashes during application, growth, and/or removal. Also, inexperienced lash artists applying true single-strand eyelash extensions may make technical errors such as using too much glue, extensions that are too heavy, or attaching natural lashes to one another. Any of these errors can cause thinning of the natural lashes.

An expert eyelash stylist will assess the condition and sturdiness of your natural lashes and apply lashes best suited for you. Not only do we plan for your natural lashes to stay healthy and strong, we have many times seen our clients’ natural lashes become healthier and fuller as they continue to see us.

Is there an age requirement to get lashes put on?

We require that all of our clients be a minimum age of 18 years old.

What are the most common types of lash extensions?

There are three types of lash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink. Size availability ranges from 6mm to 17mm. Once selected, the lashes are applied one at a time using a specially formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one’s sensitivity

What happens if glue gets in your eyes?

Since your eyes are shut the whole time lash extensions are being applied, no glue will ever get into your eye. To avoid any irritation, however, the first safety precaution you can take is to be sure that the glue is safe for your eyes and doesn’t contain anything that can harm them, like formaldehyde. Shipping glues across the world often leads to a buildup of formaldehyde by the time they reach the salon.

Additionally, it’s important to understand the difference between an allergic reaction and an infection. A licensed and experienced lash technician will not let an infection occur, but if you’re allergic to the glue, you’re still going to be allergic — this doesn’t mean the glue is inherently harmful.

Are there products you should absolutely avoid?

Keep water away from your lashes for the first 12 to 24 hours after application or touch-ups. Water can weaken the adhesive before it is set and cause lashes to fall off. The after-care varies depending on the glue used. For instance, with glue for sensitive eyes, oil-based products or makeup removers around the eye area are not recommended. Using water-proof mascara on the extensions is not recommended for any type of glue, as it is hard to remove and can actually pull off the lashes prematurely when trying to take it off.

Will your natural lashes get harmed or damaged?

The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. They do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. If lashes are applied properly and to each individual lash, they won’t fall out.

What are lash extensions made of?

Our most popular lash extensions are made of a resilient high quality synthetic fibre. We also have mink lashes are very popular too.

Lash Extensions are individual natural fibre or synthetic lashes that are connected to one natural lash with a bonding adhesive. They lengthen, thicken  & accentuate the natural lash line. Each extension is connected to a single natural lash with specially designed tools giving a totally natural look. The process can take 1 to 3 hours, depending on how many lashes are applied.

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Unlike most lash salons, our average full set application is 100-140 lashes per eye. Many salons only apply 50-70 for a 'full set' despite most people having between 100-150 lashes per eye.

For a truly glamorous set of lashes we can apply 300-600 lightweight volume lashes to each eye.

How many lash extensions are applied to each eye?

With the correct application & homecare lashes can last up to 4-6 weeks. We do recommend clients come in for touch-ups every 2-4 weeks to keep the lash line maintained.

How long do the lash extensions last?

A natural lash growth cycle is 60-90 days. All lashes are at different stages of growth, some new, some due to fall away from the eyelid naturally. When they do fall away the attached lash extension will go with it. Thus the lash extensions will need to be replenished. Another reason is natural lashes will continue to grow, in some cases the lash extension will become too long or twist as the natural lash grows out. The extension should be removed by technician & replenished. Pulling these lashes off yourself can damage your natural lashes

A:  Important: Handle your mink lashes with extra care. Never turn on the individual strands.

Start by gently pulling on the two ends of the band until it's detached from the clear tray.  Then, look downwards at a mirror, and position the lashes on your eyes, just above your natural lash line.

Note the width of your eyes, and trim the false lashes from the outside corner to match. After trimming, apply a thin, even strip of glue along the band of the lashes, then allow the glue to settle for a few seconds.

After the glue starts to get tacky, look downwards at a mirror again, and carefully position the lashes at the base of your natural lash line, pushing it down as close as possible, for the most natural look.

Once you're happy with the placement of the lashes, leave the lashes on and wait for the glue to dry.  That's it!

A:  Mink eyelashes are made up of 100% authentic Siberian mink hairs and can be worn up for 25 times.

No. When false eyelashes are (1) applied correctly with the proper adhesive and (2) removed safely and gently, there is no harm done to your own lashes. In fact, lashes have shown to become healthier from wearing false eyelashes because it replaces the need to wear mascara or curl your eyelashes.

Applying mascara to your false lashes is optional because no mascara helps you get more use out of your falsies. However, adding mascara gives you a more dramatic effect.

House of Lashes are handmade out of 100% human hair or synthetic blend. With human hair, once it gets wet, it is hard for it to maintain its curl and shape. For our synthetic blend lashes, some may withstand water however we do NOT recommend our lashes being fully submersed.

House of Lashes products are made for multiple uses but to ensure the longevity of your lashes here are a few tips to care for your lashes:

  1. 1. Remove glue buildup after 3 – 4 wears. This can be done by holding the lash by the base and gently peeling off the excess glue with your fingers.
  2. 2. Store lashes in their original tray or in one of our lash cases to maintain the lashes shape and keep them clean.

Waterproof makeup removers or makeup removers with an oil base are the best way to remove excess lash adhesive from your eyelids.

There are a couple of basic ways to remove your lashes, and tugging is NOT one of them! First, try removing one false eyelash by securely holding the lash at it’s base and, beginning at the outer corner, gently pull the lash towards the direction of your tear duct. Repeat this process with the other eye. Your false lashes should come off without much effort or discomfort. If you are having slight difficulty with your lash removal, simply dab a non-oil based makeup remover onto the lash adhesive along your lash line with a cotton swab. After the adhesive has fully softened, lift the outer corner of the lash band and gently pull the lash inwards towards your tear duct.

Eyelash adhesive is NOT included in your purchase. However, we do sell eyelash adhesive separately. http://www.houseoflashes.com/collections/accessories/products/house-of-lashes-eyelash-adhesive

House of Lashes eyelash strips come in one standard size as this allows you to custom trim them to fit your eyes.

House of Lashes are individually handcrafted and made to last through multiple wears - 5 - 8 times on average, 8+ if well maintained. (TIP: Whenever you "undress" your eyes, remember to (1) gently remove the glue from your false lashes with makeup remover and (2) place them back in their tray to maintain their natural shape.)

Our lashes are made of 100% premium human hair or cruelty-free synthetic fibers. We use only the best quality hair that is sanitized and sterilized.

  1. 1. Carefully remove first lash from lash tray.
  2. 2. Hold lash to your eye and measure whether lash should be trimmed. Use tip of scissors to cut.
  3. 3. Take edges of your lash and bend them in a U shape
  4. 4. Apply lash adhesive along lash band and allow glue to sit for about 30 seconds or until glue becomes tacky.
  5. 5. Curl your eyelashes
  6. 6. Use tweezers, eyelash applicator or hands to place lashes as close to your natural lash line as possible, start from center, then inner, then outer side.
  7. 7. Apply mascara (optional) and/or apply liner to fill in any gaps.

Q. What is your background? Where did you learn to apply makeup?

A. I have always been an artsy person and loved drawing and painting. This led to my love for makeup. I started out my profession as an artist for Too Faced cosmetics training the artists and sales team about product knowledge. Next, I worked for NARS Cosmetics as a freelance artist. Finally, after a couple of years, I went to work for MAC Cosmetics as a freelance artist and I was then hired on as an Artist. I worked at MAC for 5 years and received a lot of my knowledge and training while I was there. I feel like I already had the talent but working with different artists helped me be more diverse. Each artist I worked with taught me something different and unique.

Q. Do you use airbrush makeup?

A. YES! We specialize in Airbrush makeup and swear by it. All of my wedding makeup has been done using Airbrush because it lasts longer and feels amazingly light on the skin. It has great coverage without feeling “heavy” on the skin. It does not “sweat off” or look cakey. I use the brand Kett Cosmetics for all of my airbrushing.

Q. How long will my makeup last?

A. The makeup will last all day(12-15 hours). The Airbrush makeup lasts up to 15 hours depending on the weather conditions. We have never had anyone say it didn't last so I know it will stand up in the South's humid weather.  We have done many brides at 6 in the morning and their makeup is perfect until the end of their reception. Of course, you will have to touch up with blot powder or blot paper and touch up your lips throughout the day.

Q. What happens if I cry/sweat?

A. Don't worry, everything we use for weddings is water resistant or waterproof, from the foundation to the mascara. Simply dab your eyes or forehead with a tissue, and keep on looking gorgeous!

Q. What if I’m not used to wearing makeup?

A. We always work with each client to ensure he or she looks their absolute best. If you are unsure about makeup, we will work together to create a look that enhances your best features and plays down the areas you may not be as happy with. We don’t want you to feel that we’ve transformed you into someone no one recognizes anymore – unless that's how you want to look!

Q. Do you travel? Do you charge a travel fee?

A. Traveling is what we love about our job. We know that on a stressful day it is much easier for someone to come to you so that you can enjoy and relax on your special day. We do not charge a travel fee if your location is within the Birmingham Metro Area. Please inquire for details.

Q: What makeup products do you use?

Alexandra only uses top quality products in her kit and prides herself on keeping everything clean and hygienic. Brands include: Georgio Armani, NARS, MAC, Koh Gen Do, Makeup Forever, Hourglass, Urban Decay, Bobbi Brown and YSL.

What if I am running late?

Your artist is booked with you for a 45 minute hair or makeup session individually or a 90 minute hair and makeup appointment and we allow for a 15 minute grace period if you are running late.

If you are delayed beyond 15 minutes and your artist is available to stay, you will be charged a rate of $50 per half hour to keep the artist for the additional time.
Please let us know if you will be running late or need to push your appointment.  If our artist is not booked directly following your appointment, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule for the additional fee or to complete your service in less than 45 minutes.

How long will my appointment last?

Vênsette artists are trained to complete each hair or makeup look in 45 minutes or less.

How do I get ready for the appointment?

To expedite your appointment, we ask that all clients be ready with a clean face and wet hair when the artist arrives.   For in-office appointments, our artists can lightly clean the skin and dampen hair as needed, unless dry styling is  requested to accomplish your desired look.

I need to cancel my appointment.  What is your refund policy?

We require 12 hours notice for cancellations or appointment changes without charge. Cancellations within 4-12 hours of the appointment will be charged 50% of the appointment fee. Cancellations within 4 hours of the appointment will be charged the full appointment fee.  Appointment locations cannot be changed without advanced notice and approval from Vênsette.

What form of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, check, and money order. We do not accept credit cards.

Please send us an email (click on the Contact Us menu link above).

If you prefer you can also request a certain artist. Your message will be sent to all the artists on our team.  The artists who are available will reply with their price quote and portfolio links.  Once you’ve chosen the artist you would like to work with you can then request for a contract.

If you would like the artist, please fill out the contract form that is emailed to you by the main artist you are planning to book. When you are ready to secure the date and time, please send the contract back filled out, best of your current knowledge, sign and with deposit.   There is a 50% deposit required to secure the appointment.  The artist will let you know how to process the 50% deposit. After the contract is signed and we receive your deposit the date is reserved for you!

My bridal makeup services require advance booking, and I recommend that you contact me between six to twelve months in advance for these services. Although the makeup industry can accommodate last-minute needs—and I have worked within two weeks of booking at times—a month or two out for booking non-bridal services is the norm.

Once the date of service, time frame, and price are confirmed, I require a signed contract. For weddings, I also require an up-front deposit.

For nearly all makeup clients, I accept a check or credit card payment. For wedding clients, I require final payment be made two weeks before the wedding.

Q. Is it Hair or make-up to be done first?

A. Ideally it should be hair first, don't worry I never use hair clips or headbands if you have had your hair done, I never disturb you hair.

Just make sure that you wear a button up or zip top, so you are able to get changed easily without disturbing your hair or make-up. When I have finished applying your make-up, you can get dressed, how exciting

Q. Do you do hair too?

A. No, sorry, but I can recommend some very good mobile hairdressers that I work long side with if you are struggling to find someone.

Q. I have sensitive skin, will it be suitable for me?

A. The majority of products that I use are hypo allergenic, however if you know that you prefer certain products, eg: if you have tried and tested some mascaras and have found one that suits you best, please provide it so I can apply it for you.

Q. Can I use my own make up?

A. I am more than happy to apply any makeup products of your own for you, just have them to hand.

Q. What hygiene precautions do you take?

A. My make-up  kit is cleaned regularly all make-up brushes are cleaned and sanitised after each person.

I also use disposable mascara wands and sponges. I use an antibacterial hand gel before and between each client. I don't blow on to my brushes and where possible I will use disposable spatulas to decant make-up such as lipsticks.

Q. Are you insured?

A. Yes I am fully insured and a full member of Associated Beauty Therapists (A.B.T.)

Q. Do you offer discounts?

A. Discounts are available depending on the number in your party requiring my make-up services.
